the Tides Inn | Irvington

the Tides Inn

Located in the heart of Virginia’s Northern Neck region, the Tides Inn is a waterfront property situated on a tributary of America’s most important estuary, the Chesapeake Bay. Just two hours from Washington, DC and one hour from Richmond, the Inn offers warm hospitality in a beautiful setting featuring a beach and walkable shoreline. Seventy recently refreshed guest rooms and suites bring the outdoors in with views of the water, shorelines and gardens. A sixty-slip overnight marina welcomes sail-in guests.

The Inn enjoys a long and storied culinary history. Fresh coastal cuisine is presented in the Chesapeake Restaurant as well as the more casual Fish Hawk Oyster Bar – both with water views. Culinary classes and guest chef dinners are offered in the new Chef’s Kitchen, as are beer, wine and whiskey tastings. Adventurous food-enthusiasts may find interest in a walk with the Tides’ resident horticulturist through our forest mushroom trail, a beekeeping experience or fresh honey-tasting.

Kayaking, standup boarding, Duffy boat cruises and a professional sailing school offer guests the opportunity to get out onto the water. Those interested in deepening their connections to the waterways and marshlands will delight in the Tides Inn Oyster Academy as well as time spent in the company of our resident ecologist.

Other guest amenities and experiences include hands-on arts workshops in the property’s new Maker Space, yoga, fitness and a full-service spa. The View Room affords a place for reading, gathering with fellow guests or enjoying a morning coffee or evening cocktail.
