A New and Exciting Tides Rolls In...

Refreshed guestrooms, expanded marina, new farm-to-table cuisine series and new spa treatments and activities set the stage for summer on the bay

New tides have brought exciting enhancements for guests to experience at the Tides Inn, tucked in on a private, lush peninsula overlooking Carters Creek in Irvington, Virginia. Discover what is new and noteworthy at this Chesapeake Bay resort this summer and beyond:

Guestrooms - Refresh and Revive: Kelli Mitchell-Digges of Dear Mitchell Digges Design, and the designer behind the appealing British Colonial style of Tides Inn, has refreshed the rooms with more design elements and comforting features. Not only is there plush new carpeting throughout all guestrooms, but Digges established a new linen and bed standard with Frette, one the world's leading manufacturers. Guests will now rest on 300-thread count Egyptian cotton sheets and pillowcases and curl up beneath European down duvets.

General Manager, Gordon Slatford, comments, "The cornerstone of hospitality is providing an exquisite sleep experience. In bringing an authentic European standard to the Tides Inn, Digges has assured guests a remarkable night's sleep and a lot of smiles over breakfast before engaging in the many activities Tides Inn has to offer."

Floating on a New Dock of the Bay: The Tides Inn recently installed a new state-of-the-art Floating Dock to its marina, with 24 new boat slips that can harbor weekend cruisers and charter vessels up to 150 feet. The dock features include electric, water, cable, TV and a pump out. Guests can also enjoy the new deck area at the base of the dock with a signature Lancaster Lemonade made with vodka, limoncello, fresh lemon juice and ginger ale served over ice and garnished with lemon balm from the Inn's own herb garden.

Waves of Relaxation: The Spa at the Tides Inn recently debuted a new treatment menu and is now using Naturopathica skincare products and the Body Bliss line, in addition to the OSEA product line, which was brought on last year.Using certified natural and organic ingredients Naturopathica is free from harmful chemicals as is Body Bliss, which uses 100% wild crafted, organic or ecologically sensible essential oils. OSEA, uses organic seaweed harvested from pure waters to improve the condition and appearance of the skin.

In addition to these new product lines, the spa has also revamped its treatment options with new indulgences such as the signature Tide and Thyme, a mineral-rich body treatment that begins with a fine body polish, followed by a mask of whipped Shea Butter Body Cream with herbal essences to stimulate the body's adrenal and immune systems. While you're wrapped in a warm, Shea butter cocoon, your scalp is massaged with warm jasmine flower oil. The treatment is finished with a mini facial and a ginger mango butter reflexology foot massage (90 minutes at $175).

Farm-to-Table Culinary Series: Experience the new Cuisine of the Season series. These four-course food and wine pairing dinners will be available throughout the year. Executive Chef TV Flynn and Chef de Cuisine John Lawrence draw inspiration from local provisions to create mouthwatering regional fare paired with Mid-Atlantic wines. The series unfolds every other month starting July 28 in the East Room of the Chesapeake Bay Club. The first dinner is entitled "Ripe from the Garden" and features Caprese Salad of Heirloom Tomatoes, Fresh Mozzarella and Grilled Corn Salsa ($85 per person, including paired wine by the glass).

Activities Desk for Frisbee Golf, Kayaking and More: With so much to see and do at the Tides Inn, guests can head to the new Activities Desk, staffed by well-informed experts, to plan a myriad of activities. Try golfing, biking, sailing and kayaking right onsite. Experience one of the new activities such as Frisbee Golf, try one of the new kayaks, or set up the young ones up at the Crab Net Kids Club.
